For a Solutions Architect, Non-Functional Requirements (NFR) are a requirement that specifies criteria that judge the operation of a system, as opposed to specific behaviours. NFRs define how a system is supposed to be, while functional requirements define what the system is supposed to do.Β
A comprehensive list of NFRs can be created through discussion with stakeholders and can be organized using a mind map. An example of NFRs for a Video On Demand platform is provided, with a focus on the requirements for storing and making files available across devices.
